Laser hair removal is one of the most-booked treatments at Eternity, and also one of the most misunderstood. The most common question — 'why do I need six sessions?' — has a genuinely interesting answer, and it starts with how hair grows.
The growth-cycle problem
Our DEKA laser targets the pigment in each hair follicle, delivering energy that disables the follicle's ability to regrow hair. But hair grows in cycles, and only follicles in their active growth phase respond to treatment. At any given moment, a large share of your follicles are resting — invisible to the laser. That is why a course of sessions, spaced to catch each cycle, is how lasting reduction is achieved: most clients require 6–8 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart.
Matched to your skin, not a preset
Not every laser setting suits every skin tone. DEKA's platform includes wavelength and cooling settings suited to a range of skin tones, assessed against your Fitzpatrick skin type at consultation — and a patch test is standard before any new client begins a course. Every treatment at Eternity is delivered by Monica Dimian RN, with parameters adjusted area by area.
What it feels like
Most people describe each pulse as a brief warm snap. The laser's built-in cooling protects the skin surface and keeps things comfortable; sensitive areas like the upper lip or bikini line feel more intense, but the sensation passes immediately after each pulse. Small areas take as little as five minutes.
The sun rule
The one rule that surprises people: no sun exposure or tanning products for at least four weeks before each session. An active tan significantly increases the risk of adverse reactions, including burns and pigmentation changes — if you arrive with fresh tan lines, we may need to reschedule for your safety. Between sessions, treated hairs shed naturally over 1–2 weeks; it can look like regrowth, but it's the treated hair working its way out.

The DEKA laser system at Eternity includes wavelength settings appropriate for a range of skin tones. During your consultation, Monica will assess your Fitzpatrick skin type and select the appropriate parameters to ensure both safety and efficacy. All clients receive a patch test before commencing a treatment course.
What areas can be treated?+
Virtually any area of the face or body — including upper lip, chin, underarms, full legs, half legs, bikini, Brazilian, arms, back, chest, and abdomen. Custom zones can be discussed at your consultation.
How many sessions will I need?+
Most clients require 6–8 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart to achieve significant long-lasting reduction. Annual top-up sessions may be needed for hormonal areas.
